How being a Content Creator for the Last 12 Months Changed My Life

Have you ever looked in the mirror and realized the person staring back isn’t the same one from a year ago?

In my latest episode of the Let’s Talk Marketing Podcast, I get raw and real about my journey of becoming a YouTube content creator.

For the last 12 months, I’ve committed to the “content creation life,” and let’s keep it real- it’s been about a lot more than just views and subscribers. It’s a total metamorphosis of identity.

If you’re sitting on the sidelines of your own business or brand because you’re afraid to hit “record,” this one is for you.

Eating the “Whole Bakery” of Humble Pie

When I started this journey, I had to face something most entrepreneurs hate- seeing ourselves in action through a video. We all want to look like the polished expert on day one.

But the reality of growth is that you have to be willing to look a little “cringey” while you find your voice.

I had to stop ignoring my own content and actually face me, and then the data.

No more listening to others saying, “I sound awesome.” I paid attention to the analytics.

Marketing Tip: Data isn’t a judgment on your worth; it’s a roadmap for your creative genius. When I stopped taking low views personally and started looking at them as feedback, everything shifted.

Finding Your Voice After Loss

One of the most personal parts of this year was navigating life and business after loss. Content creation became a vehicle for me to find my voice again. It forced me to articulate my thoughts, stay disciplined, and show up for my community even when it was hard.

For those of you at any level of business expertise—from the “just starting” to the “C-Suite” level—remember that your brand is built on your authenticity. People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it and who you are.

My “#beyou” was something I believed in, but it wasn’t my lifestyle. This forced me to live it.

The authentic you isn’t an alter ego either.

The “Melting” Process: 3 Lessons from 12 Months of Content

If you want to grow your business in 2026, you have to be willing to “melt” the old version of yourself.

Here are three takeaways from my journey:

  • Question Your Value (Then Develop It): Don’t let your self-esteem be tied to an algorithm. Build your worth through the discipline of showing up. Your content will show up, so be patient.

  • The Turning Point: Growth happens the moment you shift the focus from yourself to how you can help others. Great content is for the viewer. It’s not for the content creator’s ego to watch themselves. They want you to be informed, entertained, or educated.

  • Embrace the Metamorphosis: Give yourself permission to evolve. Your business model might change, your voice might strengthen, and your goals might shift. The 3-5-year plan may change, and that’s okay because it’s progress.

Here’s one of my quotes from the podcasts that I want to highlight: “It’s truly amazing how much creating content can change your life. It pushes you to embrace new challenges and opportunities you didn’t even know existed.
